DesignFive is a family-owned, full-service interior design firm located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We have been working with residential clients in Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas for the last decade. With design experience in new home construction, single-room renovations, complete home remodels, custom remodeling, color consultations, and furniture selection, our team at DesignFive has a breadth of skill and knowledge qualified to tackle any home design project. Our company takes its name from the five sons of our owner, Steve Shorthouse, and represents the family roots and connections in our firm. Our mission is to make the process of home renovation and interior design not only collaborative but also enjoyable and exciting for our clients.

Owner/Principal Designer
Steve is the founder and lead designer of DesignFive. He has 30 years of experience in various foundations of the design world with previous work in furniture sales and manufacturing as well as the business marketing side of design. He formerly held the position of North American Color Consultant for PPG Paints. Over ten years ago, Steve set off on his own and started DesignFive in order to help clients with residential interior design and renovation.

Delaney joined DesignFive in 2021 after completing her degree in Marketing and Graphic Design at Grove City College. She has experience in digital marketing, graphic design, and social media management. At DesignFive, she manages social media and the website, client project management, and communication.
Mark Shorthouse

Mark is one of five boys in the family for which the company takes its name. He studied Interior Architecture at Chatham University and has a background retail design and visual merchandising. Mark joined DesignFive in 2019 and now works as an interior designer at the firm.
Alyssa Hoffman

Alyssa is a recent graduate of Chatham University with a degree in Interior Architecture. She joined DesignFive as an intern in early 2023 and joined the team as an interior designer in May 2023.
